This Privacy Policy describes how Whiteboard by Athena AI for ChatGPT ("we," "our," or "the App") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use our ChatGPT application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently.

Account Information

When you authenticate with Google OAuth, we collect:

Your Google account email address
Your display name
Your profile picture URL

Whiteboard Content

We store the content you create and save to your whiteboards, including:

Mermaid diagrams you generate
LaTeX equations and documents
Generated images
Wireframe asset selections
The prompts, text, and instructions you provide in order to generate this content

Usage Data

We collect basic usage information to operate and improve the App, such as:

Feature usage patterns
Error logs and diagnostic information
Device and log data, such as browser type, IP address, and access times

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

To provide and maintain the whiteboard functionality
To authenticate you and secure your account
To save and sync your whiteboard content across sessions
To generate the diagrams, equations, images, and wireframes you request, using AI models (see "How Your Content Is Processed by AI Tools" below)

How Your Content Is Processed by AI Tools

The App relies on third-party AI services to generate content. This section explains what is sent to those tools (inputs) and what we receive back (outputs):

When you ask the App to create or modify a diagram, equation, image, or wireframe, the text, prompts, and instructions you provide are sent to Google's Gemini models. Gemini returns the generated content (such as Mermaid diagrams, LaTeX, or images), which is then displayed on your whiteboard and saved to your account.
Because the App runs as an application inside ChatGPT, your inputs to and interactions with the App are also processed by OpenAI as the host platform that delivers the App to you.
We send only the information necessary to fulfill your request, and we do not share your account credentials with these AI tools.

Third-Party Services and Data Recipients

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate the App, using the third-party services below. Each service's use of your data is governed by its own privacy policy:

Google OAuth: used to authenticate you. Google receives and returns your basic Google profile information (email, name, and profile picture). Governed by Google's Privacy Policy:

We may also disclose information: (a) with your explicit consent; (b) to comply with legal obligations; or (c) to protect the rights, property, and safety of our users, the public, and the App.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in our MongoDB database. We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect it against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, and all data is transmitted over HTTPS encryption.

Data Retention

We retain your information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

Free (unsubscribed) users: all of your data, including your whiteboard content, is automatically deleted 7 days after it is created.
Subscribed users: your whiteboard content is retained for as long as your subscription remains active and is deleted when you unsubscribe.
Usage data and error logs are retained for up to 60 days, after which they are deleted or anonymized.
Data shared with the authentication and AI providers listed above is retained by them in accordance with their own privacy policies.

Other Transfers

We guarantee that all other transfers, uses, or sales of your data are prohibited. Specifically, we do not:

Sell or transfer your data to advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers.
Use your data to serve ads, including retargeting or personalized or interest-based advertising.
Use your data to determine credit-worthiness or for lending purposes.

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

Access your personal data
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Export your whiteboard content
Revoke the App's access to your Google account at any time through your Google Account settings

Children's Privacy

The App is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
